DKPUSBABEL, JAKARTA - The Governor of Bangka Belitung (Babel), Erzaldi Rosman, accompanied by the Head of the Archive and Library Agency of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (DKPUS), Asyraf Suryadin, visited the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (PERPUSNAS RI) Jakarta.
The visit on that afternoon, Wednesday (27/1/2021), the Governor was greeted directly by the Director of the National Library of Indonesia, Muhammad Syarif Bando and his staff. His visit related to several things such as building cooperation, synergizing and collaborating on archives and the history of the development of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province from its inception to the present.
"There are several things that we need to develop, they are two museums with different themes. The first thing, a museum uses theme “the History of Malay civilization. Then, it was about the construction of a library. We will combine it with the national history of Muntok City as many Babel histories found in Muntok City.
Many heritage buildings and the history of the first President Soekarno are found in Muntok too, "said the Governor.
Next, it is about the history of Belitung. Many geosites or geoparks have been developed and worked on to UNESCO. For this reason, this history needs data including the Babel civilization, and all saved in the National Library of Indonesia.
"We need to cooperate to explore this. In addition to physical data collection, we are going to build a museum and library too. Our strategy, we will collaborate with Tarumanegara University regarding to design and make use of digital technology," said Erzaldi.
“To empower this library, Erzaldi will establish cooperation to improve the quality of Human Resources who are going to manage the library in the future”.
He hoped that the Director of the National Library of Indonesia, Syarif Bando could attend the inauguration of the library as well as the museum in Muntok City which is estimated at the end of March 2021.
Through this meeting, the Governor hoped what they had discussed could impact further development for the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands. As according to him, literacy and libraries are a necessity. Do not let the existence of digitization reduce interest in continuing to read.
"Through the existence of the history and the background of Babel in this museum hoped can be a place which gives education to our community about vision and mission and policy makers," he said.
He is also expected that between the National Library of Indonesia and the Government of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province keep on synergy for a better and advanced Babel in the future.
In addition, in front of the Director of the National Library of Indonesia, Erzaldi hopes the National Library of Indonesia can provide another unit of mobile library car for Babel.
Responding to all things conveyed by the Governor of Babel, the Director of the National Library of Indonesia, Syarif Bando gladly and asked his staff to facilitate all the things relating to the act of exploring history and the civilization in Babel.
Regarding to the inauguration of the museum and the library as well as the seminar in Muntok City, Syarif Bando said he will arrange his schedule.
Separately, the Head of DKPUS hoped that after the visiting of the Governor of Babel to the National Library, there will be changes on Babel library in the future especially in the provincial library.
He added, if all things run well, in 2022 or 2023, the Provincial Government will build a Provincial Library Building using Special Allocation Fund (DAK) from PERPUSNAS RI at the former of One-Stop Administration Service Office (Samsat) building behind eks Pangkalpinang Police Headquarters.
At the end of the meeting, the Governor gives a souvenir in the form of a miniature ship which made from tin to the Director of the National Library. Meanwhile, the Governor received a National Library Member Card from the Director of the National Library.
