PANGKALPINANG - The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas-RI) in collaboration with the Archives and Library Office (DKPUS) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), facilitates the conducting of the 2022 Peer Learning Meeting (PLM) for the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program (TPBIS).
The event, which was attended by 14 library managers from Provincial Library, Regency/City Libraries, Village Libraries, and benefited people of the library services, took place at the Novotel Hotel, Bangka, from 11 to 13 July 2022, and was opened by the Head of the Babel Provincial DKPUS, Rakhmadi, S.Pd., M.A.
The ceremony was also attended by the Consultant Assisting of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program from the National Library of Indonesia, Karolina, and the Head of Sector of Library Development and Coaching of the Babel DKPUS, Abu Hapas.
The Head of DKPUS Babel, Rakhmadi in his speech explained, TPBIS is a library service approach committed to improve the quality of life and welfare of the library user community.
“The concept of social inclusion is a prosperous development that involves the community as the main actor for a stable, safe and fair community. A proactive library can help both individual and community to develop their skills, self-confidence and improve social networks," said the Head of DKPUS Babel.
Through this program, he continued, a library is not just a place to borrow and read books, but a place for various activities. It is hoped can continue to be transform along with technological advances and provide direct benefits to the community.
“This TPBIS event is a national program implemented by the National Library of Indonesia and supported by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Villages. Through this program, Non-physical assistance in the form of technical guidance and training are provided for library managers. Books, computers, printers and televisions are provided for physical assistance," said the Head of DKPUS.
TPBIS focuses on increasing the capacity of library managers. It means that library managers are able to know the need of the community in serving library service, involved community in providing service innovations and build collaboration with various parties to realize library services as what the community needs.
Rakhmadi hoped that through this onsite PLM activity, it can facilitate the learning and sharing experiences between participants. Motivating them and building their self confidence to continue did the library transformation work plan in their regencies and villages.
The National Library of Indonesia entrusted the process of facilitating sessions to be carried out by Master Trainers, Runi Alcitra Amalia, S.Sos, and Cahya Triwulan, S.IP. They can share their best practices in carrying out library transformation and give support to strengthening local resources.
This event is also presented a beneficiary people of this program to share his experiences with other participants. He is Bang Lay from Ketap Village, West Bangka Regency.
